Coming Up in Perth

Press Release
The Unfinished Show is unconventional performance, created and conceived by Ommi
Theatre director
Niz Jabour.
It is about three passengers who meet in an unknown place, trying to find their
way to their destination.
The performances bring the stories of the Iraqi people
together with the narratives of war and living during war and searching for
peace in a variety of stylisations such as mime, song, tones, rhythm and spoken
words.
The unfinished show title comes from his argument that there is never finished
forms of art and every creative action carries the seeds of another possibly
uncompleted action and ultimately how the show will play out will depend on the
audience context, their knowledge and their own personal understanding of things
that each could possibly bring with them
to the theatre space.
This incarnation of the “ongoing performance” is created in a collaboration
between four Iraqi Artists, Ayad Al-qaraghuly, sculpture and visual
artist,
Istenad Hadad , a poet and film director and writer, Hydar
Al-hajajj, Theatre director, actor and writer
and Niz jabour, each
one bring his own interpretation to their own personal narratives in
performance.
Still the Audience is there and so in this way each unfinished show
is played out.
One after the other, searching to bring the audience and performers together
trying to finish the unfinished show.
Niz jabour is an internationally acclaimed writer, performer and artist and he
is currently a PHD student at Curtin University working on his project title
”Iraqi Memory in Performances” and this performance is an introductory to
his work.
The show will presented at Curtin University of technology, Hayman Theatre on
Monday the 19/10/2009 at 7 pm. Everyone is welcome and
tickets can be purchased
